What a decision!
We went back and forth about our opinion on whether or not to change the name to boat came with. "Tempo" is a fine name but it wasn't really something we connected with strongly. The numerous superstitions regarding the subject ever in the back of our minds, we discussed at length the pros and cons of both options.
Once we pulled the boat out I was pretty set on changing it, superstitions aside. After long days of working on the bottom in the wind and rain, we would sit inside drinking whiskey trying to warm up while discussing the many decisions needing to be made. I kept bringing up the very urgent (to me) idea of a name change. Eventually, Dylan was worn down enough to consider it as an option. During those three weeks we brought up many different name ideas. I feel like some people have an easier time naming their children! Many names were shot down including Moondog and Willy Nilly. It's a lot easier to know what names you don't want vs. committing to a brand new name forever.
Before it was official!
The evening before we were to splash the boat was spent rushing around doing the last minute clean up and tiny projects to be put back together. In the dusk of the setting sun, I sanded off the old name!
Boat No Name!
We put her back in the water and drove over to our stall in Douglas Harbor the next day. She's now parked in the berth with no name. We kept toying with ideas and people kept asking over and over. We are now in a sort of holding pattern. Thinking that we need to really get to know her out on the water a bit more before making the final decision. It's a big deal!
